Here Is Why The Smock Trend From The North Did Not Last Long In The Ghanaian Fashion World

Ghanaian plaid attire, smock, which used to be worn mainly by Ghanaian men, was taken over by the women some few months back and it became a fashion trend in the Ghanaian fashion world.

But today, It is not trending as much as it used to few months back, when ladies will rush for it whiles it was on sale and celebrities, stylists and fashionistas will rock it in different styles to give you fashion inspirations, and we believe it is because of the African print.

Unlike the smock which was came in one style, the African print however can be made into different designs and styles no matter how you like it and to suit any occasion.

Though the smock trend run out of our fashion world few months after took over, it however bounced back into the system when ex-president, John Mahama declared every last Friday of the month a smock day. But even with that, it couldn’t trend for long.

This smock fashion trend seem to have died out of the Ghanaian fashion world as quickly as it dominated it, as compared to other trends that stayed in our fashion world for a year or more. So we are forced to ask, if this is how fast a trend can fade out of the system? Or perhaps the smock fashion was just not a trend which was here to stay.

But since some styles from way back 80’s and 90’s are being rocked today, maybe some years later this style will resurrect and trend in the next generation.
