A PLUS |
Controversial Hiplife musician A-Plus, known in real life as Kwame Asare Obeng, has voted in a live video post on Facebook defiling a directive by the Electoral Commission (EC).
The rapper, a supporter of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), walked boldly to a polling station in Kumasi to vote while transmitting the process live on Facebook.
He went through the process and when he got to the polling booth, before he thumbprints to vote for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo/NPP, he could be heard saying, “I do not cast my vote for useless people”.
A-Plus’s action contravenes the Commission’s rules which prevent voters from going into the booth with some stated items.
“No mobile phones, food, pens or drinks will be allowed at the voting area,” EC Chair Charlotte Osei outlined during a press conference Tuesday,
The measure, according to the EC is to help ensure free and credible electioneering process.
Voters have also been warned not to take or share photos of their votes. But all that appears to have been contravened by the hiplife artiste.
